Papers, theses and everything else

Most of my hands-on work has been in molecular biology, but the road there ran through ecology, aquaculture, fisheries, pollution, oceanography and genetics. My master’s in Cellular Biology and Biotechnology leaned towards plant biology, which is where the algal physiology comes from; the other half of my training is marine biology, including an internship in comparative molecular endocrinology working on a tilapia. Other projects were as varied as writing a HACCP plan, assessing the quality of fisheries products, studying secondary metabolites from plants and algae with industrial applications, and putting together a business plan that actually won a prize.

All of it taught me something, and I would rather it did not sit on a hard drive forever. So alongside the published papers and the theses, what follows are academic reports, posters and presentations across a wide range of subjects. I was a PhD candidate in Systems Biology; my thesis, “sncRNA regulatory networks in T cell activation and viral response”, remains in limbo, for reasons untold.
